Making community. Telling stories. Rethinking democracy.
I'm a civic practitioner, democracy activist, storyteller, and researcher working at the intersection of community, democracy, and place.
I lead grassroots initiatives for local and hyperlocal democracy renewal and facilitate participatory practices, from community dialogue and collective storytelling to creative civic labs and local action, that strengthen belonging, civic agency, and collective power.
Moving between Berlin and the Mediterranean, I write, document, and research the people, places, and everyday practices through which communities and democracy are made and remade.
At the heart of my work is a commitment to bringing people together to reimagine and shape the worlds we want to live in.
Civic Innovation
As co-founder of Commonground Initiatives, I lead civic innovation and local democracy renewal efforts, working alongside communities to strengthen civic agency, facilitate participation practices, and collective power. Through participatory formats, creative experimentation, and grassroots organising, I help communities reimagine democratic life and shape their futures on their own terms.
Storytelling
Through personal essays, community stories, and journalistic reporting, I explore the people, places, and practices that shape our collective lives. From my personal publication, Committed, to documentary storytelling and independent journalism, my work moves between the personal and the political, exploring questions of belonging, identity, community, and democracy, with a particular focus on Europe and the Mediterranean.
Research
I approach research as a participatory, practice-based process of inquiry, grounded in people's lived experiences and local knowledge. Drawing on participatory action research and qualitative methods, I explore how communities navigate social and political change, centering their voices in the production of knowledge and translating collective insights into action, learning, and democratic innovation.
